It is very large, water proof, and sand proof! Only compliant is the sand pouches didn’t really work to hold the blanket down. Granted- I didn’t fill them up all the way. I was too eager to get in the water.I bought this for a family week at the beach. It is all it promises to be and more. Just shake it off and it's good to go. It's much larger than I expected and it has pouch type things under the corners so you can put sand in them to keep it from moving or blowing on the beach. I’m sure it’ll blend in with the white sand ?It is like nylon fabric, solid material. So if you get sand on the top of it, it won't fall through like the true beach sand mats. I'm sure it repels water, and sand won't come UP thru it. BUT if you have sand on you and lay down, you have sand on you. I have the sand mats with holes in them and sand will NOT stay on top of mat. Sending this one back.
